Greetings,
Another summer has come and gone. Now comes Autumn, the best season ever. It's true. I suspect that any reliable source would back me up on that.
This Month
This Tuesday, Sept 2nd, I'll be playing at The Walter Cultural Arts Center in Hillsboro, OR at the opening reception for an exhibit called, "Questioning Functionality: a showcase of furniture and interior design that crossed boundaries with fine, non-functional art". It starts at 6pm. Info: 527 East Main Street, 503/615-3485, http://www.ci.hillsboro.or.us/WCAC/default.aspx.
On Saturday the 13th I'll accompany "The Cabinet of Dr Caligari" at the Webster University Film Series in Webster Groves, MO (near St Louis). The movie begins at 8pm at the Winnifred Moore Auditorium, 470 East Lockwood. Info: (314) 968-7487 www.webster.edu/filmseries.html
On Sunday the 14th, I'll do another live accompaniment for the same film at the Ragtag Cinema in Columbia, MO starting at 7pm. Info: 10 Hitt Street, Columbia, MO 65201, 573/443-4359, www.ragtagfilm.com After that I will quietly retreat from the heartland back to the soggy, liberal Northwestern bubble I call home.
Friday the 19th finds me back in Troutdale, OR playing at the Edgefield Winery at 7pm. Cello and wine - it's a magical combination. 2126 SW Halsey St.
Lastly, on Sept 27th, I will participate in a showcase of performers at a library in Salem, OR where I will be granted 5 entire minute (yes, folks, we're talking 300 seconds) to demonstrate the depth and breadth of my artistry. I'm thinking 3 minutes should suffice.
Check the shows page for gig updates.
PCP CDThe Portland Cello Project released our debut CD a few weeks ago and as of yesterday it is the number one selling classical cd on Amazon. This is amazing for many reasons, most notably because it isn't even a classical album. There's a little bit of classical music on it, but it's mostly collaborations with songwriters . Anyway, it's a cool album, very eclectic, cellos galore and it even has a spirited performance of Robin Hood Changes his Oil played with eight cellos.
You want a copy for you very own self? Here's 3 ways to get it:
1. Send a me a check for $15.
2. Get it on line at the Portland Cello Project site
3. Get it at AmazonWhile I'm talking about this group, here's a review of our recent CD release concert at the Aladdin Theatre. PCP has been getting a lot of attention around town and in the press and has an tremendous reputation, especially considering we've only been around for a couple years. I'm so pleased to be part of this cello collective, playing/collaborating with so many talented, varied musicians, including, most recently the Dandy Warhols. Read on...
Hangin' With Rock Stars
Here's a little tale about my awesome, excellent weekend chillin' with rock stars. So, dude, check it out - I was, like, jammin' with the Dandy Warhols last weekend... Ok, that's not exactly true. I was neither jammin, nor chillin, but I did rehearse, play a gig and then do a recording session with them. A mere glance in their direction immediately affirms that they are genuine rock stars - the hair, the volume, the diet, the rehearsal space, the entourage. They were also incredibly friendly and gracious hosts.
We (the Cello Project) performed two songs with them on Live Wire which will air on OPB next saturday night. You can hear it in western Oregon or listen to a stream on the radio. The show that featured the Cello Project aired last Saturday but that should be posted on the Live Wire site before long.

But digital downloads are all the rage and many of my albums can be procured that way. Here's a list of those albums available as mp3 downloads, along with links to get there lickety-split.
